UCC Offers Prayers, Offerings and Advocacy, Urging Peace for Israel-Palestine

CLEVELAND -- In Gaza, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed and at least 3,000 injured as a result of the Israeli military campaign. Israelis have also been killed and others injured by rocket attacks originating from Gaza. The result of violence has only been more violence, more suffering. 01/06/2009

Church Leaders Pray for Christian Unity

HARTFORD -- The Board of Directors of the Christian Conference of Connecticut, a state-wide ecumenical body of which the Connecticut Conference is a member, has issued their annual statement recognizing the 101st Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, to be observed January 18-25, 2009. Every member of the Board endorsed the document. 01/06/2009

Celebrate Silver Lake Sunday on January 25th

SHARON -- The leadership of the Connecticut Conference's outdoor ministry program at Silver Lake Conference Center invites the churches of the Conference to celebrate that ministry on Silver Lake Sunday, January 25, 2009. Co-Directors Anne and Tim Hughes have issued an invitation to local church leaders around the state to recognize summer participants of past seasons and to prepare to extend the invitation for the coming summer. 12/23/2008

SUFFIELD -- Upon starting my job as youth director of a UCC church in Suffield a few months ago, I learned of a horrendous situation that had occurred with the youth of our church, at their high school. One of the children in our community of faith had retreated into himself at the start of high school. 12/02/2008

Fall Annual Meeting Delegates Explore Generosity

BRIDGEPORT -- Over 450 United Church of Christ clergy, educators, commissioned ministers, delegates, and visitors spent two days at Central High School in Bridgeport considering the role of generosity in the life of the Church at the Fall Session of the 141st Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Conference. Keynote presenter the Rev. Stephen Gray, Conference Minister of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference, brought the assembly a wealth of stories that dispelled the illusion of scarcity and revealed the promise of generosity for giving new life to the stewardship of God's world. 12/02/2008

Some of the Future is Now: the Capital Campaign Raises its First New Structure at Silver Lake

SHARON -- As the Capital Campaign, Now For The Future, winds its way through the hearts of churches and individuals of the Connecticut Conference, the first new building of the campaign is under way at Silver Lake! From beneath the piles of oak and maple leaves a beautiful new Commons building is rising for the Hillside cabin village. 12/02/2008
